For a long time in ancient Europe, during pagan times prior to the Christian Era, sacred rituals were developed to be held at the times of harvests and solstices. These were intended to combat the fears of the darkness of winter, mythical monsters of the past, and even the fear of death itself.

In these rituals, the human and the animal, the real and the spiritual, death and rebirth were mixed... all with one ultimate goal: not to forget where we come from, who we are and where we are going.

❤️My original plan was to go through and buy individual tracks like I do with most compilation albums, but honestly there are just so many good ones that I wound up buying the whole thing. More than simple drones (though there are plenty of those, too), this album collects many of the best and most innovative dark ambient artists in one place, including many who are new to me.
